Book Club Prep

I hosted my book club for the first time ever and I was so incredibly excited! We had our first meeting as a book club last month and I can’t tell you how much I love this group. My book club consists of my 2 sisters-in-law, my mother-in-law and her sister (or my aunt-in-law I guess…). It’s very much a family book club but we have a lot of great conversation and the love for books is very real! Last month we read Caste and learned so much from that book. This month we picked up Sisters of Night and Fog, an amazing book as well!

Now, there is nothing I love more than hosting a themed event, and I went all out for this book club since I have never hosted before! Since our book involves a British and French heroine (both very real and very heroic women), I decided on a French/British Tea Party theme. It has some “American” twists to it because why not, but it is sure to be fun!

Here is what I had planned out for today’s book club:

  1. Food
  2. Settings
    • For settings and serving food I have thrifted vintage china from the UK as well as thrifted vintage crystal dishes.
      • All of these items add to the feel of the event and I LOVE how cheap good thrifted items are.
  3. Favors
    • 2 “Blind Date with a Book” for each person.
    • Bookmarks
    • Prints
    • Pins
    • Misc. Items
      • For me, I took items I knew I didn’t want or need from my shelves and turned them into small gifts for my guests!

Below is a quick look at the set up for the day and an ADORABLE sign I was gifted for hosting!

The book club was a major success as a host and while we didn’t love the book, we definitely enjoyed it and getting the chance to talk together as a group!

If you can start a book club with your family or friends I highly encourage it! It is such a fun process, whether you are hosting or just heading to someone else’s house. Getting to enjoy a book with others is so beneficial and I can’t wait for next month’s event!
