A few weeks ago I saw a post on Facebook for one of my favorite small bookshops https://www.bluestockingbookshop.com/ and I just couldn’t say no to what they were offering. They proposed a book swap and in this swap each person would be sorted into a group of 4. Each of these groups would have a theme and each person would drop off a book that somehow fit that them. I was sorted into the “Friendship is the Best Ship” group and I was thrilled. Now, with the themes they wanted you to think outside of the box, so instead of maybe a friendship trope, pick something not quite “on point” with the theme. I chose Clanlands by friends and costars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish and dropped that off yesterday for my group!
Now, the way this works, is each person will start with someone else’s book, they’ll read it (write notes), drop it off when finished and pick up the next book in the “cycle” to be read. So at all times someone has a book that they are enjoying and reading from someone else in the group!
This is my very first time ever doing something like this, or writing in a book this way! I was a little nervous about having people write in my book, but Bluestocking described it in such a fun way and the idea that I get to keep other people’s thoughts in my book is such an awesome idea! I decided to take you all along on this journey with me and the books I encounter through the process. When it is all finished we get to have a meet and great “open house” style event with all the other group members. I am so excited to go through this process and can’t wait to keep you all in the loop with how it goes!
